Had a wonderful lunch at Chen’s Kitchen. Ordered their 3 course set lunch and absolutely love it. Staffs are friendly and food is nice. Will revisit.
Had a great meal at Chen’s Kitchen! We ordered the Signature Combo (Mini Mapo Don & Mini Dan Dan Mien), Kurobuta with Garlic Sauce, Chilled Szechwan Jelly, and Kyo Breakfast Tea.

The mapo don was flavorful, the dan dan noodles were rich and tasty, and the garlic sauce paired perfectly with the tender pork. The chilled Szechwan jelly was a refreshing dessert to end the meal. Service was friendly, and the food was served quickly. A great place for a satisfying Sichuan meal. Will visit again!

Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting much when someone told me about a Michelin-selected lunch set in Orchard for under $30.

But for $26.80++? A 3-course lunch in Orchard these days is actually kind of crazy.

Tried the Executive Lunch Set at and honestly... why is nobody talking about this?

We started with the Lotus Root & Pork Rib Soup and I could've easily finished two bowls. It was rich, comforting and tasted like it had been simmering away for hours. The kind of soup that makes you slow down and savour every spoonful.

Then came the Kurobuta with Garlic Sauce and wow, this completely stole the show for me. The pork was tender, juicy and coated in a savoury garlic sauce that had me going back for bite after bite. If I had to pick one dish to order again, it'd be this.

Of course, we had to get their Signature Combo (Dry) — ½ Mapo Don and ½ Dan Dan Mien.

The portion was way more generous than I expected. The mapo tofu had just the right amount of spice for me (I'm a 小辣 kind of person 😌), and the rice was so fluffy and soft. As for the Dan Dan Mien, the peanut sauce was rich, nutty and packed with flavour without feeling overly jelak. Plus, they were super generous with the minced pork, so every bite was satisfying.

We also tried the Shoyu Kurobuta Don and the wok hei aroma hit immediately when it arrived at the table. Fragrant, savoury and seriously addictive.

By this point, I was already impressed... but there was still dessert and drinks.

The Double-Boiled Pear was light and refreshing, while the Homemade Momo Cold Brew and Chen's Ginger Ale were both surprisingly good pairings with the meal.

Halfway through lunch, I actually looked at the menu again because I genuinely couldn't believe the price.

A starter, quality mains, dessert and drinks at a Michelin-selected restaurant in Orchard for $26.80++? That's getting harder and harder to find these days.

Safe to say this is one of those places I'll actually return to instead of posting once and forgetting about it.

First time here and had a wonderful experience. Food is v nice, serve fast and hot. Portion neither too big nor too small. For 4, we ordered 6 dishes and finished it all. Love these simple dishes which are not too oily. Staffs are all very attentive especially Chris for her recommendation and attentiveness. Will definitely be back again for more . Thank you
Visited Chen’s Kitchen over two ocassions and tried quite a variety of dishes — black sweet and sour pork, French beans, hand-torn cabbage, la zi ji, Chen’s shumai, and tomato with egg. Overall, the food was pretty good and most dishes were enjoyable. The flavours were well-balanced, though the la zi ji was slightly on the salty side.

Portion sizes were decent, but it would have been even better if they were a bit more generous. Still, a satisfying meal overall and worth a visit if you’re craving comforting Chinese dishes.

I recently tried Chen’s Kitchen and had a mixed experience overall. The restaurant itself has a cozy and clean atmosphere, and I appreciated that the tables were spaced out nicely, allowing for a bit of privacy during the meal.

For the dishes, the black sweet and sour pork was decent—nothing particularly memorable, but still enjoyable. The stir-fried cabbage with Szechuan peppers stood out the most. It was quite addictive, especially when paired with the peppers, which added a nice kick and depth of flavor.

The mapo tofu, however, was rather underwhelming. It felt quite ordinary and didn’t live up to expectations, especially when compared to the branch in Japan. There, the dish was served piping hot in a ceramic bowl, and the tofu had a subtle bite to its texture, which made it more satisfying. In contrast, the version here was served lukewarm in a claypot, with a visible layer of oil on the surface. The tofu was very soft and creamy.

Overall, Chen’s Kitchen offers a pleasant dining environment and I believe some enjoyable dishes as well, but consistency—especially with signature items like mapo tofu—could be improved. Personally I think mapo tofu should always be served pipping hot.

Came for a pre cny lunch with friends on 6 Feb. The food was great, would recommend the yusheng, mapo tofu, mala prawns, mixed veggies and double boiled soup. The sweet and sour pork didn't quite hit the spot. The service however was impeccable, kudos to the staff on duty that day. They were prompt, approachable, friendly and fun, for e.g. one wait person would let out a soft 'wow' when she placed each dish down, that tickled some funny bones, and we caught on and joined her in saying wow after each dish was presented hahaha. One of our friend came 45mins late, we waited for him for lohei, staff was patient and still smiley. I would recommend this paragon outlet.

This restaurant offers dishes that cater to all ages, making it a great choice for group dining. We tried several dishes and were impressed overall.

The chilli ebi prawns stood out with their freshness, coated in a sauce reminiscent of tomato and egg with a gentle kick of spice. The twice cooked tori was lightly battered and paired with a flavourful sauce that didn’t feel heavy. The fish in golden broth was fresh and comforting, though we felt it could shine even more with a higher quality fish.

The dan dan mien while decent, was more ordinary compared to the other dishes and the portion felt a little small. Although the servings looked modest across the board, everything was surprisingly filling by the end of the meal.
